Who Was The First President Of Finland?
Kaarlo Juho Ståhlberg was the first president of Finland, who served from July 27, 1919, to March 1, 1925. Finland became a republic in the summer of 1919, and Ståhlberg was elected president right after that.
Ståhlberg was born on January 28, 1865, in a place called Suomussalmi in Finland. He was part of the National Progressive Party. And, he has worked in politics for a long time. Even, he was a member of Parliament from 1908 to 1919.
When Ståhlberg became the president, Finland had just become independent, and there were many challenges. One of his main goals was to help the country heal after the 1918 Finnish Civil War.

Juho Kusti Paasikivi was the 7th President of Finland, and he served from March 8, 1946, to March 1, 1956. Paasikivi was born on November 27, 1870, in Tampere, Finland.
He was a famous statesman and diplomat, he was even the Prime Minister in 1918 and again from 1944 to 1946. Paasikivi became president after World War II and the Russo-Finnish War, a time when Finland had to deal with the Soviet Union.
He was practical in his foreign policy, focusing on keeping Finland independent while having good relations with the Soviet Union.
Paasikivi created the “Paasikivi Doctrine,” which was a plan to keep Finland’s independence and avoid fights with the Soviets.
