Who Is The Current Minister Of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy in Nigeria?
Hannatu Musawa is the current Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy in Nigeria. Hannatu was appointed to this position on August 16, 2023, by President Bola Tinubu. Before this, Hannatu was a special adviser to the president on Culture and Entertainment Economy.
As the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, she is responsible for promoting and developing Nigeria’s creative industries and preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Hannatu Musawa was born on November 1, 1974, and comes from Katsina State in northern Nigeria. She is part of the Hausa-Fulani ethnic group. Her father, Musa Musawa, was involved in Nigerian politics.
Hannatu then followed a similar path by engaging in both politics and law. Over the years, she has built a strong career in these fields. Hannatu Musawa earned her undergraduate degree in law from the University of Buckingham in the UK.
She later pursued two master’s degrees, one in Marine Affairs from the University of Cardiff and another in Oil & Gas from the University of Aberdeen.
However, before she became a minister, Hannatu Musawa had a successful legal career. She worked in private law firms and gained expertise in areas such as marine law and oil and gas law. In addition to her legal career, Hannatu has been active in Nigerian politics.
She once contested for a seat in the House of Representatives and has worked on election-related legal matters, including the 2003 presidential election petition involving Muhammadu Buhari and Olusegun Obasanjo.
Today, as Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa is focused on supporting Nigeria’s creative sector, which includes industries such as music, film, fashion, and arts.
