1. Okechikwu Tony Nwoye

Okechikwu Tony Nwoye

Tony Nwoye is the Senator-elect for Anambra North who assumed office in June 2023, succeeding Stella Oduah. Nwoye’s political career began as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, representing the people of Anambra East/West constituency in Anambra state.

He has been associated with different political parties, including the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and currently, the Labour Party (LP).

Born on September 13, 1974, in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria, Nwoye attended Metropolitan Secondary School in Onitsha for his secondary education.

He pursued a degree in medicine at the University of Nigeria College of Medicine, followed by further studies at Ebonyi State University, where he was sworn in as a medical doctor.

Nwoye’s political career traces back to his days as a medical student, where he actively participated in student unionism and held leadership positions.

He became the first medical student to serve as the speaker of the student union House of Representatives at the University of Nigeria.

Over the years, he rose through the ranks within the political sphere, becoming the Assistant Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Anambra State PDP in 2005 and later assuming the role of Chairman of the State Executive Committee, making him the youngest State Chairman of a major political party in Nigeria at the age of 31.

Aside from his political engagements, Nwoye is also involved in business as the founder and non-executive Director of Vintage Consolidated Ltd.

In 2015, Nwoye emerged victorious in a case at the Election Tribunal, securing his position as the representative for Anambra East and West in the Federal House of Representatives.

However, he faced an unsuccessful bid for the Anambra State election under the PDP in 2014.

2. Chukwunonyelu Victor Umeh

Senator (Dr) Victor C. Umeh, OFR, represents Anambra Central Senatorial District in Nigeria’s 10th Senate. Born on July 19, 1962, in Aguluzigbo, Anambra State, Umeh holds a BSc Honours in Estate Management from the University of Nigeria Nsukka.

He is a respected Estate Surveyor and Valuer, with a notable career in both public service and private practice. It all started in 1998 with the Peoples Democratic Party before co-founding the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2002.

Within APGA, he served as National Chairman, leading the party to significant electoral victories in Anambra and beyond.

In recognition of his contributions to democracy and governance, Umeh has received several honors, including the National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and the Papal Knighthood of St. Sylvester, KSS. Umeh has been a vocal advocate for equity and fairness, particularly for the people of Anambra and Nigeria at large.

He has championed causes for the less privileged, through his Victor Umeh Education Foundation (VUMEF), which supports indigent students.

With philanthropic efforts benefiting numerous individuals, including over 220 students on scholarship under VUMEF.

3. Ifeanyi Ubah

Ifeanyi Ubah

Ifeanyi Ubah is the current Senator representing the Anambra South Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate. Ubah is a prominent politician, entrepreneur, and businessman born on September 3, 1971, in Abuja, Nigeria.

He assumed office as Senator on February 24, 2019, succeeding Andy Uba. Ubah is affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) political party.

He has a background in business, having founded Capital Oil (CCO) in 2001, which is renowned for its extensive network of facilities and outlets primarily in the Southeast and Southwest regions of Nigeria.

Growing up in Otolo, Nnewi, Anambra State, Ubah faced financial constraints that led him to drop out of school at an early age.

Despite this, he pursued business opportunities, initially focusing on exporting motor tires and spare parts across West Africa and Europe. In addition to his business endeavors, Ubah has made significant contributions to Nigerian politics.

He contested in the 2014 Anambra gubernatorial election under the Labour Party and later won the Anambra South Senatorial election in 2019 under the Young Progressive Party (YPP) before defecting to the APC.

Ubah is married to Uchenna Ubah, and they have five children together. He is also actively involved in philanthropy through the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation.

In September 2022, Ubah survived an attempted assassination when gunmen attacked his convoy in Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State, resulting in the deaths of at least five individuals, including two policemen.
