1. Daniel Justus Olugbenga
Senator Gbenga Daniel is the current representative of Ogun East Senatorial District in Nigeria’s 10th Senate, affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He began his term on June 13, 2023, succeeding Ramoni Olalekan Mustapha. Gbenga Daniel served as the Governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, and he’s known for his diverse career, which includes entrepreneurship and politics.
Born on April 6, 1956, in Ibadan, Nigeria, Gbenga Daniel hails from a Christian background. He attended the Baptist Boys’ High School in Abeokuta and pursued higher education at the University of Lagos, where he studied engineering.
During his academic journey, Daniel was actively involved in intellectual pursuits and engaged with notable figures like Prof. Ayodele Awojobi.
Daniel’s professional career began as a lecturer at the Lagos State Polytechnic, after which he ventured into various roles in engineering and business management.
In 1990, he founded Kresta Laurel, an engineering company specializing in elevators and overhead traveling cranes. He later expanded his business portfolio with the establishment of Conference Hotels.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Daniel has been involved in Nigerian politics. He started his political career as a member of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) under the tutelage of Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Over the years, he has had major positions within the party and contributed to democratic struggles against military rule.
Daniel’s political career peaked when he became the Governor of Ogun State in 2003, winning the gubernatorial election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
During his tenure, he initiated different developmental projects, including road construction, establishment of educational institutions, and promotion of youth entrepreneurship. In 2021, Daniel joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
2. Salisu Shuaib Afolabi
The current senator representing Ogun State’s Central district in the 10th National Assembly is Salisu Shuaib Afolabi, a Nigerian politician.
He’s a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party. In the last election, Afolabi secured victory with a significant margin of 96,759 votes.
His closest competitor was Aderinokun Olumide David of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who received 52,440 votes.

3. Adeola Solomon Olamilekan
Solomon Adeola, also known as Yayi, is a Nigerian politician serving as the Senator for Ogun West since 2023. He previously represented Lagos West from 2015 to 2023.
Born on August 10, 1969, in Lagos, Adeola began his education at State Primary School in Alimosho and later attended Community Grammar School, Akowonjo. He earned a Higher National Diploma in Accounting from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
Adeola, a Chartered Accountant and Fellow at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria had a career in journalism and accounting before entering politics.
He served as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2011, where he played a key role in strengthening the state’s revenue system.
In 2011, Adeola was elected to the Nigerian House of Representatives, he took the chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
Then he later became a Senator, serving on different committees including Communications, Finance, Marine, Interior, and Science and Technology.
Known for his legislative skills, Adeola was instrumental in passing significant laws such as the Fiscal Responsibility Act and the Public Procurement Act in Lagos State.
He has continued his impactful work in the Senate, recently being appointed as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations in 2023.
