The capital city of Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria is Uyo. Located in the South-South region of Nigeria, Uyo serves as both a local government area and the administrative center of Akwa Ibom.

Oruk Anam is the largest Local Government Area (LGA) in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Situated in the southeastern region of Nigeria, Oruk Anam spans a total area of 210.0 square miles (543.9 square kilometers) and is home to a population of approximately 219,300 people as of 2022.
This LGA is predominantly inhabited by the Annang people, one of the minority tribes in Southeast Nigeria. The administrative headquarters of Oruk Anam is located in the town of Ikot Ibritam.
It is divided into two major political units: the Oruk zone and the Anam zone. Historically, Oruk zone and Anam zone were separate Local Government Areas with their headquarters.
