1. Sampson Ekong Akpan

Sampson Ekong Akpan

Sampson Ekong Akpan currently serves as a Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly. This marks his second term in the Senate. Senator Akpan Ekiong Sampson has an outstanding educational background.

He graduated with distinction in Mass Communication from the Polytechnic, Calabar, in 1985. Later, he pursued law studies at the former University of Cross River State and was called to the Bar in 1991.

Aside from his legislative duties, Sen. Akpan is also a poet and author. He has contributed significantly to the literary landscape with works such as “Parliamentarism in Nigeria: An Odyssey in the Niger Delta” and “Laws and Statements – The Legacy of Sir Udo Udoma”.

Sen. Akpan has demonstrated his commitment to public service too. He has served as the Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, a Member of the State House of Assembly, and held roles as a Special Adviser and Commissioner of Environment and Petroleum Resources in Akwa Ibom State.

2. Akpabio Godswill Obot

Godswill Akpabio is currently serving as the Senator for Akwa Ibom North-West. He assumed office on June 13, 2023, succeeding Chris Ekpenyong.

Before this, he served as a senator from 2015 to 2019 and resumed office in 2023. Akpabio is a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, having also served as the 3rd Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2015.

Besides, he held the position of Minister for Niger Delta Affairs from 2019 to 2022. Born on December 9, 1962, in Ukana, Ikot Ntuen, Essien Udim, Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio hails from a humble background.

He lost his father at an early age and was raised by his mother. Godswill obtained a degree in Law from the University of Calabar after completing his education at Methodist Primary School, Ukana, and the Federal Government College, Port Harcourt.

Akpabio also had positions at both state and federal levels, including being the Senate Minority Leader from 2015 to 2018.

In 2018, he defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that drew attention across the nation.

Despite his political successes, Akpabio has faced allegations of corruption, particularly during his tenure as governor.

However, no charges have been filed against him for these accusations. In addition to his political engagements, Akpabio is a family man, married to Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, with whom he has five children.

3. Bassey Aniekan Etim

Bassey Aniekan Etim

Aniekan Bassey, a Nigerian businessman and politician, currently serves in the 10th Senate as a Senator representing the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District.

He’s also the Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development, assuming office on June 13, 2023.

Bassey succeeded Bassey Albert in representing the Akwa Ibom North-East constituency. He was also the 12th Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, representing the Uruan State Constituency from 2015 to 2023.

His political journey also includes executive roles, such as being an Executive Member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Africa Region) since 2021.

During his tenure as Speaker, he was the Vice Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Chairman of the South-South Speakers Forum, and Chairman of the House Committee on Parliamentary Affairs. In addition, Bassey is known for his philanthropic efforts.

He chairs the RHAB-YESS Foundation, a project developed to discover, mentor, and support young entrepreneurs and rural women in Akwa Ibom.

The foundation provides scholarships for indigent students and aims to offer shelter to vulnerable widows in the state.

  1. please advise senator Aniekan Bassey Etim to remember mbiokporo2 road ,linking Mbiaso to mouric polytechnic and Akwa Ibom state college of education in Afaha Nsit as well as mbiaso district court. His impact are not felt at all after the election. We know he has collected a five hundred million naira constituency project fund.
