This event followed a legal battle in the Court of Appeal declaring her as the validly elected senator for the district. A lawyer and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs. Akpoti-Uduaghan took her oath of office during a plenary session in Abuja.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, presided over the ceremony, symbolizing the official commencement of her tenure.

Clerk of the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze, administered the oath of office to Mrs. Akpoti-Uduaghan. This moment marked her formal induction into the upper legislative chamber.

2. Jibrin Isah

Jibrin Isah

Jibrin Isah is a Nigerian politician and banker currently serving as the senator for Kogi East Senatorial District. He’s a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.

Isah holds degrees from Bayero University Kano, the University of Lagos, the University of Ibadan, and the University of Nigeria, having started his political career in earnest with his election to the Nigerian Senate in June 2019.

Isah has built a solid foundation in the banking sector with some notable positions at institutions such as Chase Merchant Bank Plc and Afribank International Limited, where he gained invaluable experience in finance and management.

Isah’s political aspirations first surfaced in 2011 when he contested for the governorship ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Despite facing setbacks, he remained resilient, running again in 2015. In the 2019 general election, he emerged victorious as the senator for Kogi East, winning with 134,189 votes.

His constituency, Kogi East, comprises nine local governments and holds 51% of the total voter population of Kogi State.

As a senator, Isah represents the interests of this diverse region, advocating for policies that promote economic growth and social development.

3. Karimi Sunday Steve

Senator Sunday Steve Karimi is currently serving his first term as a Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 10th Assembly.

Sen. Sunday had a commendable tenure as a two-term House of Representatives parliamentarian from 2011 to 2019, and his representation spanned Yagba East & West/Mopa – Amuro Federal Constituency of Kogi State.

Kogi West senatorial district, under Senator Sunday’s representation, contains seven local governments, namely Kaba Bunu, Kogi/Koto Karfe, Mopa Muro, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, and Lokoja.
