Who Is The Minister Of State Agriculture And Food Security Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi?
Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi is a Nigerian politician and veterinary surgeon. He was born on January 10, 1967, and is currently serving as the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, a position he assumed on August 21, 2023.
Under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, Aliyu is working alongside the Minister of Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari. Before becoming a minister, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi represented the Niger North Senatorial District as a senator from June 9, 2015, to June 11, 2023.
He was part of the 8th and 9th National Assemblies, during which he also served as the Deputy Chief Whip in the 9th Assembly. He was instrumental in passing key legislation during this period.
In the 2015 Niger North Senatorial District election, Abdullahi was declared the winner. His re-election in 2019 secured 161,420 votes against his rival from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who got 77,109 votes.
What he did in the Senate contributed to many important developments in his region. In recognition of his contributions, Abdullahi was honored with the national award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in October 2022.
