Who Was The First Executive Governor Of Bauchi State?
The first executive governor of Bauchi State in Nigeria was Mohammed Bello Kaliel. He was a Colonel in the Nigerian Army.
Bauchi State was formed on February 3, 1976, during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo. Kaliel took office as governor in March 1976 and served until July 1978.
He focused on improving basic infrastructure like electricity and water supply during his time in office. Before becoming governor, Kaliel served as an instructor at the Nigerian Defence Academy and held various military positions, including Commandant at the Nigerian Resettlement Center and Director of Logistics and Defence.
