The current senator representing Ebonyi State in the 10th National Assembly is Peter Onyeka Nwebonyi, who serves as the Senator representing Ebonyi North district.

Onyeka Peter, a Nigerian politician, represents the All Progressives Congress (APC) party. Onyeka Peter secured victory with a significant margin In the recent elections, recording 65,863 votes.

His closest contender, Ejiofor Vincent Chukwu of the Labour Party (LP), had 42,283 votes, while Egwu Samuel Ominyi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) trailed behind with 26,569 votes.

Other candidates in the race included Nwidembia Silas Chibueze of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who had 4,072 votes, and Nwojiji Samuel Igum of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with 436 votes.

Onyeka Peter’s representation of Ebonyi North district underscores his commitment to serving the interests of the constituents in that region.

3. Anthony Okorie Ani

Anthony Okorie Ani is currently the senator representing Ebonyi State. He was born on June 24th, 1966, to the family of Augustine Ani Nwakuma in Onicha Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, and he has a solid educational background.

Ani attended Onicha Central School for his primary education and Government Secondary School Owutu Edda for his secondary education.

He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Agriculture from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, graduating with Second Class Upper Division in 1989.

His academic journey continued with a Master of Science in Agricultural Extension Administration from the same university in 1992.

Ani’s commitment to education led him to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology, which he earned from the University of Maiduguri in 2002.

His career in academia began as an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, University of Maiduguri, in 1994.

Over the years, he rose through the ranks, becoming a Professor in 2006. He later joined the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, where he currently serves as a lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Extension.

Prof. Anthony Okorie Ani’s charge into politics saw him replacing Umahi as the Senator representing Ebonyi South in the National Assembly.

During a reception held in his honor, he expressed gratitude and pledged not to disappoint the trust placed in him by the people of Ebonyi South. He emphasized his track record of never failing in his endeavors and promised to perform to the best of his abilities.
